BurnCo BBQ Tulsa - South Boston Location

I try to be objective as possible when doing this, but honestly, this one is hard. I am a Q junkie and this is my favorite joint period much less in Oklahoma and in NE Oklahoma. BurnCo was started by a couple of guys who worked at Hasty Bake and went into business cooking for themselves, still on Hasty Bake grills.

This venue at 18th and Boston is the 2nd spot for this location as the first was at 11th and Harvard and was really small. This is bigger but you will still be greeted with a line if you wait too close to opening to get there. They open at 10:30 and most days the line is around the corner. I usually get there about 10 and I'm one of the first in line. And yes this Q is worth having anytime including 10:30 in the morning.

They are known for their ribs but offer the standard BBQ fare with some additions. They make a "Fatty" which is a bacon weave filled with chopped beef, some spicy sausage and then a smoked sausage in middle. It is then rolled up and then smoked and sliced like meat loaf and served. Their potato salad is a grilled potato salad served warm. Thursday through Saturday they also have a smoked mac and cheese that is divine. If you want to try everything, they have the Happy Plate, it is pictured below and is worth it. Also when they run out of food, they are done. When they start getting low, they will start offering the "refugee plate" is a mishmash of what they have left. I got 2 for $10 and had a lot of food left.

When you get to order, do know that you order the meat of choice and sides are separate. You can also get a side of another meat for $4. I usually get ribs and a side of fatty. I usually take about $20 but it is more than worth it. They are open Tuesday-Saturday 10:30am - 2pm or until the food is gone but the bar and meat counter, where you can get some of their awesome in house made sausages is open until 5. Find them on Facebook and they have been featured on the Travel Channel and Food Network. I'll be doing a post about their new Jenks location soon.
